All Reflexology treatments take place at my home where you will receive a warm and friendly welcome. There is ample parking and I live in a quiet location helping you to relax and unwind. Upon arrival you will take your shoes and coat off and check your mobile phone is switched to silent mode - time for you to let go and unwind.
We will start with a friendly chat to help you relax into the environment. For every new client we will complete a thorough consultation form and questionnaire so I can tailor your treatment to your unique requirements. This will involve you answering some questions about recent or long-standing illness, what medication you may be taking, a few lifestyle questions and your reason for having reflexology.
You will then get comfortable in my soft reclining reflexology chair (I will make any adjustments needed to endure you are as comfortable as you can be). I begin every treatment with some deep breathing which triggers the brain to calm and relax and helps you let go of any tension. Breath is like an anchor which grounds us, calms us and regulates us.
The treatment will begin with some relaxation techniques and Solar Plexus breathing. I will also use a tuning fork which I place gently on your chest. The vibrations help calm the nervous system and promote healing and balance and harmony in your body. You can find out more about tuning fork benefits in the Benefits of Reflexology section. I use some of my musical instruments to create a mini soundbath experience for clients which helps your body find its natural rhythm and helps a busy mind unwind.
I then move into my warm up part of your treatment. This will get the blood flowing and start to free up energy pathways. I work on the right foot first then the left throughout the treatment, focusing on each body system as a whole. I will then move into the main treatment where I will use the application of pressure using precise finger and thumb techniques across the different reflexes.
If certain areas feel particularly out of balance I may return to these reflexes throughout the session to help bring them back into balance. Then I will move into the cool down part of your treatment. During the treatment, most people tend to feel very relaxed and some may even fall asleep. There may be some tingling sensations in different parts of the body which is normal. You can find out more about how you might feel during a treatment here How You Might Feel.
I will then bring your treatment to a close in a calm, peaceful way by stroking your hands or feet and then placing the tuning fork on the Solar Plexus reflex point on each foot or hand to promote further the healing process and relaxation. I never rush you to 'wake up' and move. I encourage clients to lay in stillness listening to the soothing music and allowing their bodies to relax.
The important aspect is for you to feel comforted and nurtured. I always end your treatment with the gentle and soothing sounds of my Windchime (water element). Windchimes help relax the body, heal and bring balance and joy to your life.
After the treatment we will discuss any areas of particular discomfort and I will offer you some aftercare advice. We will discuss how many follow-up treatments are recommended and how often. Typically clients will need 4-6 weekly treatments as a minimum to start with to get the body in balance, although it is also possible to have more sessions more frequently. General maintenance sessions are typically monthly.
However, you are under no obligation to book further treatments.
After your reflexology treatment, you will feel relaxed and nurtured and have a sense of calm.
Best wishes
Esther
